KidsArtCamp 2010

at Oak Hill Elementary School.

This 5 day Art Camp covers a wide range of drawing, painting, and now, 3-D sculpting skills, taught to your child by Artist and Oak Hill Elementary Art Teacher, Kevin Monaghan.

Sketchbooks are provided for every Artist and used each day to record ideas, practice skills, sketch their interests and creative expressions.  Sketchbook drawings will be used as the foundation to create two paintings and two sculputres during the week.

Painting choices include: a portrait or self-portrait, a painting in the style of a famous artist, an architectural painting, a landscape or a "your choice" painting created from the ideas and expressions of your child. Mr. Monaghan will assist students to help them develop an idea or image for each painting. Please bring into class pictures from home to help your child create ideas that are meaningful and special to them and your family.  (sports, family, vacations, pets, hero's, hobbies, flowers, animals, bugs, trucks, unicorns, etc.)

Sculpture Choices: New this year, students will be creating two 3-D sculptures from clay and/or plaster of paris.  Mr. Monaghan will be teaching students concepts related to sculpture, including individual opportunities to use a clay wheel to "throw" their very own clay vessel, similar to the way professional artists make pottery such as bowls and cups.

The last day of class, students will host a formal "Art Show" to display the fruits of their labor to friends and family.

Recommended ages are 7-12 years of age.

Students will paint with Acrylic paints on a 16 x 20 canvas, using pallets to mix paints colors and wooden easels to hold their canvas while they work.  A real Artistic experience.  "KidsArtCamp" aprons will be provided for each student to keep. One of their 3 paintings will be framed for each artist to keep and display at the Friday Art Show
