Exciting Kids Art Camp News for Summer 2017 Kids Art Camp is moving to a Full Day camp, at a NEW location in Reston, Virginia (Good Beginnings School, 11501 Sunrise Valley Dr., Reston, Va 20191). Program hours are from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. Recommended ages: 7 and up What's New ? Each day, students will experience a 3 hour creative Art curriculum that includes Drawing, Painting, Clay, Origami, T-Shirt Design, Wood Sculpture, and of course our Spectacular Friday ART SHOW. (3:00pm). The second half of each day will complement the inside program, with an outdoor program that will blend problem solving activities, with movement, team work, and exploration. Our new facility offers a large Art Room inside and a semi-shaded, safe and completely fenced outdoor play area. Outdoor activities are low impact, organized, and fun for all!
Art Curriculum 1. Paint two 16x20 acrylic paintings based their own ideas and interests. *** 2. Build and design your own 3D Sculpture. 3. Learn and apply traditional paper folding techniques to create Origami. 4. Use traditional hand building techniques to learn and create with Clay. 6. Drawing, sketching, and creative brainstorming daily. 7. Fifth Annual "Art Work and Ice Cream" project with the Franklin Farm Baskin Robbins store and more! .***ALL SUPPLIES ARE INCLUDED FOR YOUR ARTIST****
***Mr. Monaghan will assist students to develop and refine ideas for their paintings, however it is helpful for you child if you provide them with pictures from home about ideas or images that are meaningful and special to them and your family. (sports, family, vacations, pets, hero's, hobbies, flowers, animals, bugs, trucks, unicorns, etc. Students will paint with Acrylic paints on a 16 x 20 canvas, using pallets to mix paints colors and wooden easels to hold their canvas while they work. A real Artistic experience
Outside Curriculum: 1. Geo Cache: Students will be introduced to the concepts of teamwork, trust, map making and measurement, to solve riddles that will help them find a hidden lost treasure. No need for a map, shovels or a compass, we have all the supplies needed for this adventure!
2. Miniature golf......not just playing, but building the course as well. Students will learn about architecture and invention. They will problem solve and plan, in order to build their very own miniature golf course. Bring a pencil and blueprints, dreaming big is a must for this one!
3. Its "Carnival Time".....test your skills at carnival games. Like to aim, throw, climb or slide?.....like the challenge of an obstacle course or be part of a team relay? This concept involves students creating a "Summer Carnival" for their peers to play. Teams will work to brainstorm games that are fun to make and even more fun to play. To get ideas flowing and learn about the materials, students will be introduced to classic games like bowling, ping pong, horse shoes and corn hole......Now invent your own game, create your own booth, take tickets and challenge your friends!
4. Make your own T-Shirt......team building event full of color and creativity for all!
